# 40 live-data tools in Zapier, with no API key: how to join and what each action returns

Our tools now run as Zapier actions. In a Zap you can check an EU VAT number, a CVE, a domain's mail records or a vehicle's recalls, with no OpenKrill account and no key. The integration is private until Zapier reviews it, so you join with an invite link. This post covers what the 40 actions do, what a result holds and what we measured.

By OpenKrill. Published 2026-10-16. The action list and the run results come from our Zapier integration and its app tester, run on 2026-10-16; the Zapier plan facts come from Zapier's plans page, read on 2026-10-16.

## The short answer

Open the [OpenKrill Tools invite link](https://zapier.com/developer/public-invite/247678/f010eca6378be3e50a9410dfce17b4df/) while you're signed in to Zapier and accept it. Then, in any Zap, add an action step, search for OpenKrill Tools and pick one of the 40 actions. For any of the other tools in the [MCP install guides](https://tools.openkrill.app/integrations), pick Run Any OpenKrill Tool. There's no connect step because the tools are public lookups, so Zapier asks for no account.

## What the 40 actions cover

| Job | Actions |
| --- | --- |
| Business and tax | Check VAT Number, Find Company by Domain, Find Company LEI, Add Business Days, Count Business Days, List Public Holidays, Search Tariff Codes, Get Duty Rate, Get IRS Mileage Rate |
| Web and domains | Check Email Authentication, Get DNS Records, Get Domain Registration, Check Domain Availability, Check AI Crawler Access, Check Page Share Tags, Trace Redirects, Audit Page SEO, Fetch Page as Markdown |
| Developer and security | Check CVE, List Recently Exploited CVEs, Check Package, Check Repository Health, Get End of Life Status, Check Open Source License, Look Up RFC |
| Research and jobs | Search Research Papers, Get Paper by DOI, Check References, Get Country Statistic, Search Company Jobs |
| Products, vehicles and travel | Look Up Product by Barcode, Check Product for Allergens, Search Food and Drug Recalls, Decode VIN, Check Vehicle Recalls, Get Fuel Economy, Get Travel Advice, Get Airport Status |
| Text | Check Text for AI Writing Habits, Scan Text for Prompt Injection |

Each action has plain input fields with help text, such as a country list for the VAT check. The 41st action, Run Any OpenKrill Tool, builds its fields from the tool you pick.

## What a result holds

Every action returns the tool's own fields, which you can map into the next step, plus 2 more:

- **Answer as Text** is in every result. It's the whole answer as readable text, ready for an email, a Slack message or a spreadsheet cell.
- **What to Check** is in 31 of the 40 actions. It says what the answer doesn't prove, so a person knows what to check before acting on it. For the VAT check, it says a valid number doesn't show the business is the one you're dealing with, and tells you to compare the legal name on the invoice.

Tools that find several items, such as research papers or tariff codes, return the list as one field. Zapier offers it as line items, so a later step can write each one to its own row.

## A first Zap, and what the Free plan allows

Zapier's Free plan allows 2-step Zaps and 100 tasks a month, and every run of an OpenKrill action counts as one task. A simple 2-step Zap pairs a Schedule trigger, such as every Monday, with List Recently Exploited CVEs and a product word you use, such as Chrome. The answer shows up in the Zap's run history.

To send the answer somewhere you need a third step, and that needs a paid Zapier plan. A common setup then looks like this: a new row in a Google Sheet, Check VAT Number on the row's number, then write the registered name and What to Check back to the row.

## Limits

An action is one call to our keyless gateway, which runs it on the tool's own server with that server's usual limits per network. Zapier sends the calls from its own servers, so all Zapier users of a tool share its limit. When a limit is reached, the action tells Zapier to retry the step later instead of failing the Zap.

## What we checked

On 2026-10-16 Zapier's app tester ran all 40 actions, Run Any OpenKrill Tool and the tool list against the live gateway, and 42 of 42 steps passed. On a second run, when many answers came from the tools' cache, the median step took 328 ms and the slowest 974 ms. Each action also has a live test Zap of ours, tested in the Zap editor against the live gateway.

## Why it is private for now

Zapier lists an integration in its app directory only after a review, and it opens the review when at least 3 users have live Zaps that use it. If one of these actions saves you a manual lookup, a live Zap of yours helps get the integration reviewed and listed. If you hit a problem or a tool is missing, use the feedback tool on any of our MCP servers or write to support@openkrill.app.

## Frequently asked questions

### Do I need an OpenKrill account or an API key?

No. The tools are keyless, so the integration has no sign-in step.

### Does it cost anything?

The tools are free. Zapier counts each action run as one task on your Zapier plan.

### Can I use a tool that has no action of its own?

Yes. Run Any OpenKrill Tool lists every tool on the gateway and shows the fields of the one you pick.
