# Business Days & Workday Calc jobs

Each section below walks through one job with the tools of the `business-days` MCP server. The same recipes are MCP prompts (prompts/list) on `https://api.openkrill.app/gateway/mcp`.
Connect the server at `https://businessdays.openkrill.app/mcp` in your MCP client settings (remote streamable HTTP, no key), then call its tools as normal tool calls. They are not command line programs: Bash, curl and scripts cannot reach them.

## Count working days, workdays and PTO

Job: Count working days, workdays and PTO, with the Business Days & Workday Calc MCP server.

Use the `count_business_days` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "How many working days are there between 14 July 2026 and 18 August 2026 in Germany?"

Steps:
1. Call `count_business_days` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `country`, `startDate`, `endDate`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"country":"DE","startDate":"2027-07-14","endDate":"2027-08-18"}`
4. For the request "How many working days are there between 14 July 2026 and 18 August 2026 in Germany?", a correct answer looks like this: businessDays 26 of 36 calendar days, 10 weekend days, no holidays on working days, with the conventions listed.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Use count_business_days for how many working days fall between two dates, add_business_days for the date a number of business days after or before a date, and list_holidays for a country's public or school holidays in a year.
   - Always send the country as a two-letter code; ask for the country if the user did not give one.
   - Send a region when the user names a state, province or nation (Bavaria is DE-BY, Scotland is GB-SCT, England is GB-ENG, California is US-CA); holidays only some regions keep are not counted without it, and regionalHolidaysNotCounted lists them, so mention them when it is not empty.
   - Send weekendDays when the weekend is not Saturday and Sunday.
   - Name the holidays that changed the result.
   - If a note is returned, pass it on.
   - Holiday data can differ from an employer's or a contract's calendar, so do not present the result as a legal deadline.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `count_business_days`).

## Calculate a business-day due date and SLA

Job: Calculate a business-day due date and SLA, with the Business Days & Workday Calc MCP server.

Use the `add_business_days` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "What date is 37 business days after 11 August 2026 in England?"

Steps:
1. Call `add_business_days` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `country`, `startDate`, `days`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"country":"GB","region":"GB-ENG","startDate":"2026-08-11","days":37}`
4. For the request "What date is 37 business days after 11 August 2026 in England?", a correct answer looks like this: resultDate 2026-10-02, a Friday, with Summer Bank Holiday 2026-08-31 listed under holidaysSkipped; the start date is not counted.
   - State the day-count convention in the answer: for a range both ends are counted unless includeStartDate or includeEndDate is false, and for add_business_days the start date is day 0 and is not counted.
   - Name the holidays that changed the result.
   - If a note is returned, pass it on.
   - Holiday data can differ from an employer's or a contract's calendar, so do not present the result as a legal deadline.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `add_business_days`).

## List bank holidays and school breaks

Job: List bank holidays and school breaks, with the Business Days & Workday Calc MCP server.

Use the `list_holidays` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "List the public holidays in Bavaria in 2027."

Steps:
1. Call `list_holidays` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `country`, `year`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"country":"DE","year":2026}`
4. For the request "List the public holidays in Bavaria in 2027.", a correct answer looks like this: Nationwide holidays plus those that apply in DE-BY, such as Epiphany on 2027-01-06 and Corpus Christi, each with a weekday and a dayOff flag; holidays only other states keep are absent.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `list_holidays`).
