# EU Business & VAT Checker jobs

Each section below walks through one job with the tools of the `eu-business` MCP server. The same recipes are MCP prompts (prompts/list) on `https://api.openkrill.app/gateway/mcp`.
Connect the server at `https://eubusiness.openkrill.app/mcp` in your MCP client settings (remote streamable HTTP, no key), then call its tools as normal tool calls. They are not command line programs: Bash, curl and scripts cannot reach them.

## Find the company behind a domain

Job: Find the company behind a domain, with the EU Business & VAT Checker MCP server.

Use the `company_from_domain` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "Which company is behind the domain doctolib.fr, and how big is it?"

Steps:
1. Call `company_from_domain` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `domain`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"domain":"https://www.danone.com/en/home?x=1"}`
4. For the request "Which company is behind the domain doctolib.fr, and how big is it?", a correct answer looks like this: The legal name DOCTOLIB, country FR, the SIREN, a size band and the registration date, each with a source link and a confidence; anything not found is said to be unknown.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Use company_from_domain when the user has a domain, website or work email and wants the company behind it.
   - Pass the domain, such as stripe.com.
   - Give each fact with its source link and date.
   - Explain confidence: confirmed means a register checked the number or Wikidata link, name_match means only the name matched one register entry, printed_on_site means only the company's own page says it, wikidata_only means only Wikidata says it.
   - Never fill a gap: say a field in unknown is unknown and why.
   - If status is ambiguous, show the candidates and ask; if it is not_a_company_domain, give the reason.
   - Domain age is not company age.
   - A size band can be years old and covers one legal entity, not its group.
   - Send the VAT country as a two-letter code or English name (Greece is EL, Northern Ireland is XI; GB cannot be checked); ask for it if the user gave only digits.
   - Say the result is what the official source reports on that date.
   - A valid number does not show the business is trustworthy or is the one the user deals with: suggest comparing the registered name with the invoice.
   - Send requesterCountry and requesterVatNumber only when the user gives their own VAT number for proof of the check, and pass on the consultationNumber.
   - Pass on the register lag notice.
   - Companies only: if a name is withheld, say so and do not guess it.
   - Never identify or search for a private person, owner, director or employee.
   - This server does not answer VAT registration duties or VAT rates.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `company_from_domain`).

## Validate an EU VAT number on VIES

Job: Validate an EU VAT number on VIES, with the EU Business & VAT Checker MCP server.

Use the `check_vat_number` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "Is the Austrian VAT number ATU33864707 valid, and who is it registered to?"

Steps:
1. Call `check_vat_number` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `country`, `vatNumber`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"country":"AT","vatNumber":"U33864707"}`
4. For the request "Is the Austrian VAT number ATU33864707 valid, and who is it registered to?", a correct answer looks like this: valid true, with the registered name Red Bull GmbH and its address, the date of the check, and the notice that a valid number does not prove the business is trustworthy.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Use check_vat_number to validate an EU or Northern Ireland VAT number, find_company_lei for a Legal Entity Identifier, and lookup_company_registry for the French or Norwegian register (other countries: use find_company_lei or say the register is not covered).
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `check_vat_number`).

## Look up a Legal Entity Identifier

Job: Look up a Legal Entity Identifier, with the EU Business & VAT Checker MCP server.

Use the `find_company_lei` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "What is the LEI of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft in Germany, and is it active?"

Steps:
1. Call `find_company_lei` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"name":"Siemens Aktiengesellschaft","country":"DE"}`
4. For the request "What is the LEI of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft in Germany, and is it active?", a correct answer looks like this: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft first, LEI W38RGI023J3WT1HWRP32, status ACTIVE, registered as HRB 6684 in Munich, with the LEI renewal date.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Use check_vat_number to validate an EU or Northern Ireland VAT number, find_company_lei for a Legal Entity Identifier, and lookup_company_registry for the French or Norwegian register (other countries: use find_company_lei or say the register is not covered).

   - Pass on the register lag notice.
   - Companies only: if a name is withheld, say so and do not guess it.
