# IndexNow Submit jobs

Each section below walks through one job with the tools of the `indexnow` MCP server. The same recipes are MCP prompts (prompts/list) on `https://indexnow.openkrill.app/mcp`.
Connect the server at `https://indexnow.openkrill.app/mcp` in your MCP client settings (remote streamable HTTP, no key), then call its tools as normal tool calls. They are not command line programs: Bash, curl and scripts cannot reach them.

## Check IndexNow key file and sitemap

Job: Check IndexNow key file and sitemap, with the IndexNow Submit MCP server.

Use the `indexnow_check` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "Is my IndexNow key file set up right? Site tools.openkrill.app, key okindexnow20261005."

Steps:
1. Call `indexnow_check` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `site`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"site":"tools.openkrill.app","key":"okindexnow20261005"}`
4. For the request "Is my IndexNow key file set up right? Site tools.openkrill.app, key okindexnow20261005.", a correct answer looks like this: key_file.verdict is ok, the sitemap source is robots.txt, and urls.to_submit is above 0. Nothing is submitted.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Use indexnow_check first: it reads the key file and sitemap and submits nothing.
   - Without a key it returns new_key: tell the user the exact file to publish, then check again with that key.
   - Never invent a key or submit a site the user does not run.
   - Lead with summary, then one line per engine with its status and meaning.
   - If submitted is false, give the reason and next_step.
   - If key_file.verdict is not ok, give key_file.fix word for word.
   - If urls.other_host is set, explain that www and the bare domain are separate hosts.
   - Say that accepted means received, not indexed, and that Google does not use IndexNow.
   - Suggest changed_since for later submits, so only new or changed pages go out.
   - Mention ad_line once at the end.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `indexnow_check`).

## Submit sitemap URLs to IndexNow

Job: Submit sitemap URLs to IndexNow, with the IndexNow Submit MCP server.

Use the `indexnow_submit` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "Submit the pages on my site example.org that changed since 2026-10-01. My IndexNow key is 7f3c9a1e5b2d4c6f8a0b1c2d3e4f5a6b."

Steps:
1. Call `indexnow_submit` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `site`, `key`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"site":"send.example.com","key":"a1b2c3d4e5f6a7b8c9d0"}`
4. For the request "Submit the pages on my site example.org that changed since 2026-10-01. My IndexNow key is 7f3c9a1e5b2d4c6f8a0b1c2d3e4f5a6b.", a correct answer looks like this: Either one result per engine with status, HTTP code and meaning, or submitted false with the key file fix.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Without a key it returns new_key: tell the user the exact file to publish, then check again with that key.
   - Call indexnow_submit only for a site the user owns, with its key; it sends nothing unless the key file holds exactly the key.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `indexnow_submit`).
