# Post Stats jobs

Each section below walks through one job with the tools of the `post-stats` MCP server. The same recipes are MCP prompts (prompts/list) on `https://poststats.openkrill.app/mcp`.
Connect the server at `https://poststats.openkrill.app/mcp` in your MCP client settings (remote streamable HTTP, no key), then call its tools as normal tool calls. They are not command line programs: Bash, curl and scripts cannot reach them.

## Get a post's public stats

Job: Get a post's public stats, with the Post Stats MCP server.

Use the `get_post_stats` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "How many views and likes does https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8bE_lGbtjyY have?"

Steps:
1. Call `get_post_stats` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `url`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"url":"https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8bE_lGbtjyY"}`
4. For the request "How many views and likes does https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8bE_lGbtjyY have?", a correct answer looks like this: status ok with stats.views, a sources entry for each number, and not_public for the numbers YouTube does not show.
5. Follow the server's own rules:
   - Post Stats reads public numbers of YouTube and TikTok posts: views, likes, comments, shares, saves and post time.
   - Use get_post_stats for one post address, compare_posts to rank 2 to 10 posts by views, and list_channel_stats for the latest posts of a YouTube channel or a TikTok profile's totals.
   - Report numbers from stats, and say a number is approximate when its sources entry has exact false.
   - A field in not_public is not shown publicly: give the reason, do not guess it.
   - A row with status error carries a code and message: pass them on, and retry later only when retryable is true. shape_changed means the platform changed its page; say the reader needs an update.
   - It never signs in, so it cannot read private posts or account analytics.
   - It does not read X: an X address comes back as unsupported_platform with the reason.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `get_post_stats`).

## Compare posts by views

Job: Compare posts by views, with the Post Stats MCP server.

Use the `compare_posts` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "Which of these did best: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8bE_lGbtjyY and https://www.tiktok.com/@scout2015/video/6718335390845095173."

Steps:
1. Call `compare_posts` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `urls`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"urls":["https://youtu.be/_0G4OG39XjI","https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0G4OG39XjI"]}`
4. For the request "Which of these did best: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/8bE_lGbtjyY and https://www.tiktok.com/@scout2015/video/6718335390845095173.", a correct answer looks like this: Both posts ranked by views with likes per 1,000 views, and top set to the most viewed.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `compare_posts`).

## List a channel's latest posts

Job: List a channel's latest posts, with the Post Stats MCP server.

Use the `list_channel_stats` tool for this job.

Work on the user's request. If there is none yet, ask what they need. A request this job handles: "List the latest Shorts of https://www.youtube.com/@dailychartfacts with their views."

Steps:
1. Call `list_channel_stats` as a normal MCP tool call, with the request's values in the fields of its inputSchema. It needs `channel`.
2. If a value the tool needs is missing and you cannot tell it from the request, ask the user one short question first.
3. This input is known to work; copy its format, not its values: `{"channel":"https://www.youtube.com/@mkbhd","limit":3}`
4. For the request "List the latest Shorts of https://www.youtube.com/@dailychartfacts with their views.", a correct answer looks like this: The channel name and its latest Shorts, each with views from the public channel page.
6. If the call fails or the answer looks wrong, tell the user, then report it with `submit_feedback` (kind bug, tool `list_channel_stats`).
