# BillPeak

Recheck a small business power bill against the utility's published rate and find a cheaper plan. It is free, with no sign-up and no key.

Also known as: Electricity Bill Check, Business Power Bill Audit.

## What it does

BillPeak checks a small business's electricity bill against the utility's own published rates and tells you, in plain sentences, whether the bill is right, which rate plan would cost less for the same use, and what a coming rate change will do to it.

Send the bill's numbers or pasted text (kWh, kW, total, rate code) plus the service address. BillPeak finds the utility that serves the address, finds the rate the bill is on, and prices the same month again line by line from the rate record in the OpenEI Utility Rate Database. It shows the recalculated total next to the billed total, the gap, and which part (energy, demand, customer charge, taxes and fees) the gap comes from.

It then prices every other rate the business can use, leaving out rates for street lights, pumps, farms, backup service, other size classes or other wiring, and ranks them by cost with the saving per month and per year. Rates with an old record or a charge it cannot price carry a note instead of a quiet guess.

Add a Green Button usage file and BillPeak also shows each month's peak kW and when it happened, the days that set it, a typical day by hour, and how much energy would have to move to hold the peak 10% or 20% lower. Coming changes are priced too, such as OUC DemandLevel in Orlando from 1 November 2026 (pending approval), at each demand band.

It covers 133 of the 150 U.S. utilities with the most business customers (91% of those customers). Texas retail electricity providers are not covered. The scan is free and complete. It estimates from public rate records; it is not your utility's statement or advice. Bills and usage files are read for the answer and not stored.

- Rechecks a business electricity bill against the utility's published rate, line by line
- Shows the gap to the real bill and which charge it comes from
- Ranks the other rate plans the business can use by cost, with the saving per month and year
- Prices coming rate changes, such as OUC DemandLevel from 1 November 2026, at each demand band
- Breaks down peaks from a Green Button usage file: when, which days, and what a lower cap takes

## Connect

The MCP server is `https://billpeak.openkrill.app/mcp` (streamable HTTP). It needs no key.

Claude Code, in one command:

```
claude mcp add --transport http billpeak https://billpeak.openkrill.app/mcp
```

Hermes Agent, in one command that answers its two setup questions (no key, enable all tools):

```
printf 'n\ny\n' | hermes mcp add billpeak --url https://billpeak.openkrill.app/mcp
```

Or add these lines to `~/.hermes/config.yaml`, under an existing `mcp_servers:` key if the file has one. Start a new Hermes session after either step.

```
mcp_servers:
  billpeak:
    url: https://billpeak.openkrill.app/mcp
```

Any other agent: give it this page's Markdown address, `https://tools.openkrill.app/tools/billpeak.md`, and ask it to connect BillPeak.

Paste the address into your assistant once: the [connect steps](https://tools.openkrill.app/#connect) cover Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor, and the [install guides](https://tools.openkrill.app/integrations) show the same steps for each client.
