# Page Fetch

Get a public page as clean Markdown with its links, after a robots.txt check. It is free, with no sign-up and no key.

Also known as: Web to Markdown, Fetch page as Markdown, URL to Markdown, Web page to JSON.

## What it does

Page Fetch reads one public web page and returns its main content as clean Markdown, with the page title, description, language, canonical address and a list of the links in the content.

It keeps headings, paragraphs, lists, quotes, code blocks, tables, emphasis and links, with every link made absolute. Menus, headers, footers, side columns, scripts, cookie banners and hidden text are left out, so an agent reads the page and not the site around it.

robots.txt is read before every page, and a page it disallows for PageFetch or for all crawlers is not read; the answer says why. Each site is read at most once a second (more when its robots.txt asks), at most 300 times a day, and a page read in the last 60 minutes is answered from the stored copy with no new request. The reader names itself as PageFetch/1.0 (+https://tools.openkrill.app/; support@openkrill.app).

It reads only public pages. It does not sign in, pass a paywall, solve a CAPTCHA or run page scripts, so a page built only by script comes back short with a note. PDFs and images are refused.

It can also fill a JSON object from the page. Pass a JSON Schema, a prompt or both: a small model reads the first 12000 characters of the page's Markdown and fills the object, and code then checks it. An answer that does not match the schema is not returned; the result says why. Every value comes with its source: where the same text sits in the page, or found false when the model wrote something the page does not say word for word.

Each page's Markdown is kept for 60 minutes so a repeat call does not reach the site again, then deleted. Nothing about the caller is stored.

- Turns one public web page into clean Markdown with absolute links
- Keeps headings, lists, quotes, code blocks and tables; drops menus, footers and banners
- Returns up to 100 distinct links from the main content, marked internal or external
- Checks robots.txt before every page and says why a page was not read
- Returns the title, description, language and canonical address of the page
- Fills a JSON Schema from the page, checks the answer and points every value at its text in the page

## Who it is for

Anyone who asks an AI assistant a question like this one: “Read this docs page and sum up the setup steps.”

## Price

Page Fetch is free to use. There is no sign-up, no account and no API key. Calls are limited to 60 calls a minute per network and 5000 calls a day per server, shared by all callers. Repeat questions are answered from a cache.

## Tools it offers

- `fetch_page`: Fetch a web page as Markdown
- `extract_page_json`: Extract JSON from a web page

## Connect

The MCP server is `https://pagefetch.openkrill.app/mcp` (streamable HTTP). It needs no key.

Claude Code, in one command:

```
claude mcp add --transport http page-fetch https://pagefetch.openkrill.app/mcp
```

Hermes Agent, in one command that answers its two setup questions (no key, enable all tools):

```
printf 'n\ny\n' | hermes mcp add page-fetch --url https://pagefetch.openkrill.app/mcp
```

Or add these lines to `~/.hermes/config.yaml`, under an existing `mcp_servers:` key if the file has one. Start a new Hermes session after either step.

```
mcp_servers:
  page-fetch:
    url: https://pagefetch.openkrill.app/mcp
```

Any other agent: give it this page's Markdown address, `https://tools.openkrill.app/tools/page-fetch.md`, and ask it to connect Page Fetch.

## Job recipes for agents

Step-by-step recipes that walk an agent through 2 jobs with this server's tools:

- Fetch a web page as Markdown, with `fetch_page`
- Extract JSON from a web page, with `extract_page_json`

[Download the recipes as SKILL.md](https://tools.openkrill.app/skills/page-fetch-jobs/SKILL.md). Save it as `page-fetch-jobs/SKILL.md` in your agent's skills folder. A connected MCP client gets the same recipes from `prompts/list` on this server.

It is listed under Websites, domains and email in the [full tool list](https://tools.openkrill.app/tools). The same facts in plain text are in [llms.txt](https://tools.openkrill.app/llms.txt).
