Researcher
Paper Finder and Citation Checker answer different questions. One finds a record and an abstract. The other checks a bibliography line against Crossref, the DOI system and OpenAlex.
Tasks these servers can do
Find recent open-access papers on retrieval-augmented generation evaluation.
Call search_papers on Paper Finder (https://papers.openkrill.app/mcp). Records from Europe PMC and Crossref, with source and the date they were read. It does not summarize the paper or read the full text.
Install steps: ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Pi.
Get the abstract for DOI 10.1038/s41586-021-03819-2.
Call get_paper on Paper Finder (https://papers.openkrill.app/mcp). The abstract and a free full-text link only when the index confirms one. A missing link is not proof that no free copy exists.
Install steps: ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Pi.
Is DOI 10.1038/nature14539 a real reference, and has it been retracted?
Call check_references on Citation Checker (https://citations.openkrill.app/mcp). A verdict of found, mismatch or not_found, plus retraction status when the indexes record one. Bibliographic details only.
Install steps: ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, Pi.
What they will not do
These tools do not check whether a claim in the paper is true, and they are not medical advice. Send bibliographic details, not an unpublished manuscript.
Where to start
Each link above is a client-specific install page with one call that was checked against the live server. The plain-text list of every server is llms.txt. The words MCP, tool and streamable HTTP are defined in the MCP glossary.
